Cox announces new channels, DVR sharing

Cox Communications has launched 13 new high-definition channels. Cox Advanced TV Plus Package customers now have access to up to 146 HD channels, as well as a new Trio Program Guide and the option of Whole Home DVR. Channel launches for all customers who subscribe to HD service include: OWN HD, Headline News HD and Nat Geo Wild HD. Baton Rouge customers who have signed up for the new Trio Plus Package will also have access to 10 additional HD channels: DIY HD, Cooking Channel HD, Outdoor HD, Discovery Kids/The Hub HD, SWRV HD, HBO Latino HD, HBO Alternate Coast HD, HBO 2 Alternate Coast, HBO Signature HD and HBO Family HD. High-definition customers who subscribe to the standard definition version of the new HD channels will receive the new channels at no additional charge. Also part of Cox’s video enhancements is Whole Home DVR, which allows access to DVR features on any TV in a household. Whole Home DVR allows a single DVR to feed up to three separate HD client receivers with three separate content streams at one time. It requires a separate subscription to DVR service and the lease of an HD/DVR receiver for each outlet.
