The Courtyard Gifts and Interiors at 4467 Arnold Lane in the Airline and Jefferson highways area is closing after six years in business. Its last day is March 31. Owner Linda Dowden, who also owns a real estate agency, says she and business partner, interior designer Greg Ellis, decided to close the The Courtyard because it was too much to run a retail shop while also keeping up with their professional careers.
Dowden is also selling the 3,200-square-foot historic home that houses the shop. The 1810-era structure, which Dowden says was moved from its original location to Arnold Lane in the 1920s, is on the market for $700,000.
“It’s a beautiful home and it has been a great location,” Dowden says. “But when it’s time, it’s time.” —Stephanie Riegel
