Louisiana now has six of the nation’s largest corporations — and five of them are along the corridor. Superior Energy Services of New Orleans made the Fortune 1000 list this year, joining Entergy Corp. of New Orleans, Shaw Group and Albemarle of Baton Rouge and Pool Corp. of Covington. Also on the list is CenturyTel in Monroe. Entergy Corp., a utility with $13 billion in revenues, weighed in at No. 205 — up from 231 last year. Shaw Group, a construction and engineering firm with nearly $7 billion in revenues, ranked 357 — up from 426 the previous year. Albemarle of Baton Rouge moved up to 788 from 806, with revenues of $2.5 billion. Superior Energy Services broke into the top 1,000 at No. 933 with revenues of nearly $1.9 billion. Pool Corp. was the only firm that fell in the rankings, from 911 to 966. Revenues were nearly $1.8 billion. Exxon Mobil, which is based in Texas but has a refinery in Baton Rouge, was ranked No. 1, with revenues of nearly $443 billion. The full list appears in Fortune’s May 4 issue.
