Corporate Recycling Council moving to Mid City

The Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council is set to move into a new location in Mid City by June 1. The nonprofit organization, which recycles electronic devices, will take up 35,000 square feet in a building at the intersection of Main and N. 14th streets. Nancy Jo Craig, executive director, says after 10 years the council had outgrown its downtown location on St. Phillip Street, next to the 13th Gate. “This will give us a bigger storefront, so we have more room to sell items to the general public,” she says. Moving to Mid City will also enable the recycling council to better serve families, since the new location is near the CATS bus station. Doug Adams of Property One, who along with Macon Callicott represented the owners of the building, says the new location should be a good long-term fit for the council. Adams says the space was being used for temporary storage. The recycling council has about 20 employees; Craig says she hopes the move will lead to an increase in business that results in more hiring. —Timothy Boone
