Port Allen-based Bear Industries has acquired a 21.9-acre site on the Mississippi River in Carville for $160,000, or about $7,300 per acre. The property is situated just east of Monroe Lane on River Road in the Iberville Parish community, which is about 16 miles south of Baton Rouge.
The property includes about two acres of land located between the levee and the river bank, and it is zoned M-2 for heavy industrial use.
“Bear Industries has another parcel nearby and was simply acquiring more property as an investment because river frontage is hard to find,” says Matthew Laborde of Beau Box Commercial Real Estate, who represented the buyer along with Brent Struthers, also with Beau Box.
The seller was Michael D. and Starr G. Breaux. Bear Industries sells aggregate, limestone, sand gravel and clay, servicing both the industrial and residential markets. The company has locations in Port Allen and St. Gabriel.
