Construction is set to start in the next month or two on a Walmart Supercenter in Watson. The 150,000-square-foot store on La. Highway 16, at the intersection with Cane Market Road, is set to open in late spring 2012, says Tice White, a Walmart spokesman. Plans for the store had been rumored for several years. White says Walmart is still on track to open a Supercenter at Bluebonnet Boulevard and Burbank Drive in 2013. There were comments during a presentation at last week’s Trends in Real Estate seminar that Walmart was reducing the size of the Bluebonnet store, but White says no confirmed changes have been made. —Timothy Boone
