As Baton Rouge construction companies ramp up work in New Orleans and hire about 2,000 workers per month, the Louisiana Workforce Commission and Region One Works have created the Greater New Orleans Construction Connection.
The tool is an online one-stop shop for businesses and job seekers. Its online application has customized employment questions for more than 20 different fields, including construction laborers, electricians, flaggers, carpenters, pipe layers, welders, foremen and more.
“The Greater New Orleans Construction Connection tool is an outstanding resource in helping our team and other contractors find the right workforce,” Rudy Comeaux, director of organizational development for the Lemoine Company says. “We recently located several candidates for an open position on one of our projects in Harvey and the responsiveness was impeccable and made this process very simple for me.”
The tool is open for job seekers with any level of experience, including newbies willing to learn.
Region One Works is one of four Louisiana Workforce Development Board and covers eight parishes in the greater New Orleans area.
