East Baton Rouge Parish has contracted with municibid.com to auction off to the public surplus and police-seized items, Mayor Kip Holden announced today. Holden says use of an online auction will provide access to a broader audience of potential buyers, ultimately leading to greater benefits and cost savings for the city-parish. He says online auctions are widely recognized as a “best practice” approach to inventory management for local governments. Holden says municibid.com was chosen because it is designed for local and state government entities with an online government auction platform. The first round of the auction is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 20, and end on May 4. Items up for auction include cars, trucks, heavy equipment, lawn equipment and computer equipment.
