City-parish officials on Monday announced a slate of new initiatives aimed at reducing blight and stimulating economic development, community revitalization and first-time homeownership. The initiatives are backed by roughly $6 million in federal grant funding and are intended to “return previously blighted properties to commerce,” Mayor Sid Edwards said in a Monday afternoon press conference.
