City forms partnership with JEDCO

The City of Gretna and Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission have agreed to a new partnership furthering economic development opportunities within the city. This partnership, approved by the Gretna City Council this month, will provide enhanced economic development assistance in exchange for an annual investment of $25,000. “This partnership will assist the City of Gretna to set a course for customized economic development efforts,” says Executive Director Lucien Gunter. “Gretna will also receive a customized economic profile that provides key decision makers with a comprehensive resource to assist with business attraction and retention.” JEDCO will provide the City of Gretna with proactive business retention efforts including site selection assistance, tax incentive support, demographic information and access to various financing programs. As part of the agreement, JEDCO will provide quarterly reports to the mayor’s office outlining the key economic development accomplishments. The City of Gretna has recently completed an economic development video designed to highlight the cultural and economic benefits of Gretna. JEDCO will assist in the distribution and subsequent inquires resulting from the video. “JEDCO has a proven record of economic development successes and we look forward to the value they will bring to the City of Gretna,” Gretna Mayor Ronnie Harris says.
