The Chinese Combo King on West Chimes Street won’t be replaced by a Vietnamese restaurant after all, because the restaurant’s owners are bound to a lease through 2017, the building’s owner tells The Daily Reveille.
The LSU student newspaper had reported earlier this week that the Chinese restaurant—which has recently closed but is expected to reopen in a few months—would be replaced by a Vietnamese restaurant.
James Hall of Cole, Cole & Hall Properties tells the newspaper that Chinese Combo King managers Alice and Morris Lo have reached an agreement with Little Saigon owners Lan and Vu Nguyen to take over management of the restaurant. While the Nguyens—who operate the Little Saigon restaurant on Florida Boulevard—had planned to rebrand the restaurant as Little Saigon II, Hall says they will continue to operate it as Chinese Combo King.
“The Nguyens are going to manage Combo King in the absence of the Los, which they’re telling me might be a couple of months,” Hall says. Read the full story.
