The Baton Rouge Area Chamber’s political action committee says it is supporting three tax proposals for the Central Community School System, which will be on Saturday’s ballot. Future PAC says it backs the measures, which would set up a half-cent sales tax to pay for building a new middle school and acquiring land, as well as a 9.25-mil property tax for building renovations and a 14.4-mil property tax for building a new elementary school and making improvements. Jim Ellis, chairman of Future PAC’s board of directors, says passing the tax proposals will give Central the resources and infrastructure to keep its schools doing well.
