Check out the upcoming edition of 225 magazine to find bicentennial postcards you can use to invite friends and family to Baton Rouge this year to celebrate the city’s 200th birthday.
Visit Baton Rouge, in collaboration with the Louisiana Office of Tourism and 225, will release the postcards—called “P.S. The Bicentennial Postcard”—beginning Oct. 1.
The postcards, which include the required postage, also will be available at East Baton Rouge Parish Libraries, the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, and Visit Baton Rouge, in addition to the new magazine. See examples of the postcards.
The postcard project is similar to the “P.S. Baton Rouge Campaign” done years ago by the late E.J. Ourso, who believed that tourism benefitted the whole community, Visit Baton Rouge says in a news release. That campaign, called Positive Selling, allowed residents to invite others to come and experience Baton Rouge.
“This yearlong celebration has allowed us to look at what we’ve done in the past and repeat those successes, and the P.S. Baton Rouge Campaign was a great example of that,” says Visit Baton Rouge President and CEO Paul Arrigo in a prepared statement. “Whether a native or new to Baton Rouge, this offers residents a chance to get out and explore and experience their hometown with out-of-town visitors during this year’s bicentennial, marking 200 years as an incorporated city.”
