Capital Area Transit System buses will begin departing the Mall of Louisiana every hour on the hour on Sunday at 8 a.m., when a new route that also will serve the Gardere neighborhood and L’Auberge Casino & Hotel is launched.
Called “46 Gardere Limited,” the new route was announced by CATS officials today. It will operate seven days a week, from 6 a.m. to 9:55 p.m. on weekdays; 7 a.m. to 9:55 p.m. Saturdays; and 8 a.m. to 6:55 p.m. Sundays.
CATS buses will be scheduled to depart L’Auberge every hour on the half hour, and the route also will serve The Emerge Center at 7784 Innovation Park Drive.
“We are happy to be able to provide this limited stop service to another area of interest to our customers,” CATS CEO Bob Mirabito says in a prepared statement. “We look forward to continuing to respond to the requests of our growing customer base and provide the most efficient service we can.”
In late November, the Metro Council signed off on a CATS proposal to create three new routes—an LSU Express Route, a Nicholson Limited Route and a Garden District Trolley—bringing to 33 the total number of routes. The trolley began serving the Garden District neighborhood in early January. CATS has yet to announce when the other two routes will be launched.
