As Tropical Storm Isaac continues on a path toward Louisiana, Capital Region residents are preparing for an anticipated landfall Tuesday evening that is likely to impact south Louisiana. Mayor Kip Holden held a press conference this morning to urge residents to follow the storm’s development today and prepare for it. “Rest assured, we are watching every movement of this storm,” Holden says, adding it’s too early to begin discussing closure of city-parish offices in advance of the storm because it’s still too far offshore. Holden will give another update this afternoon. Sandbags will be available at parish fire stations, Chief Administrative Officer William Daniel says. BRAC, meanwhile, is encouraging all Capital Region businesses to review and begin implementing their hurricane-preparedness plans. BRAC has a guide on preparedness and response available online here. Should any large-scale damage occur in south Louisiana, BRAC will also make available online a critical business information section. Entergy says it’s preparing for the possibility that strong winds, higher tides, rain and flooding could affect the companies’ service across southern Louisiana, adding line crews and contractors will be positioned near the areas that could be impacted.
