The Capital Region Planning Commission issued a request for proposals to develop a marketing and branding program to help promote its services. The commission is allocating upwards of $40,000 for the work, not including printing.

CPRC Director of Planning Kim Marousek says by hiring a professional firm, members of the commission aim to advance the work the organization is doing and become more approachable to the public and member agencies.

The commission serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Capital Region, and the federal government only funds projects vetted by the MPO.

“We are an organization with many functions, and it may not be clear what all they are,” Marousek says.

The consultants will develop a strategic outreach methodology for the commission, create educational materials explaining functions of the commission, and develop a marketing and branding strategy.

The commission plans to use money given from the federal Department of Transportation for public outreach and local funds to pay for the program, according to Marousek.

The proposals are due by Oct. 26, and will be taken to CRPC’s policy committee on Nov. 13. Marousek estimates they will have the firm onboard for 8 months to a year.
