Assistant branch managers at the roughly two dozen Baton Rouge area Capital One bank locations were told Wednesday that their position has been eliminated, Capital One spokesman Steven Thorpe confirms.
The move is part of a larger effort to streamline and simplify operations, by which assistant branch managers are being eliminated at all of the bank’s Louisiana locations, Thorpe adds. The terminated workers were given 60 days notice and were urged to apply for other positions in the bank. If they choose not to apply for another position in the bank, they are being offered severance packages that include retraining assistance and outplacement services, Thorpe says. He would not say how many jobs have been eliminated, either locally or statewide. According to the bank’s website, it has 24 locations within 25 miles of Baton Rouge.
“It’s a difficult decision, and we’re committed to helping impacted associates through the transition,” Thorpe says in an email to Daily Report.
