Insitu Data Solutions Inc. will open a manufacturing and service center in Lafayette that will also serve as the headquarters for Insitu Data Solutions Americas, a subsidiary of IDSI.
IDSI says it will engineer, manufacture and market next-generation equipment to serve its global oilfield services customers at the center in Lafayette. It will be located in the Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise facility on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus, company officials and Gov. Bobby Jindal announced today.
Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project will create 17 new direct jobs with an average salary of $46,400 annually, as well as 22 new indirect jobs. LED says it began discussing the project with IDSI in March. To secure it, the state is providing the company an incentive package that includes workforce training and development assistance via the LED FastStart program. The company also is expected to benefit from the state’s Quality Jobs Program, which provides a maximum 10-year rebate of up to 6% of the company’s payroll for new jobs created.
The company considered a number of locations for its manufacturing and service operations, including Canada, LED says.
“This is why we work on international relationships,” Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel says in a prepared statement. “We know that Canadians visit our state more than any other nationality. Nurturing some of our shared heritage is a natural and can lead to economic benefits to both sides.”
