ABMB Engineers Inc.—a 130-person transportation engineering firm based in Baton Rouge—has agreed to be acquired by a Canadian company. Specific terms of the deal between ABMB and Edmonton-based Stantec Inc., including a price, were not revealed today. ABMB also has offices in New Orleans, as well as in Vicksburg, Madison and Jackson, Miss. Stantec has offices in New Orleans and West Monroe. It provides planning, engineering and infrastructure management for aviation, bridge, road and transit systems. Mayor Kip Holden released a statement today saying the acquisition is good news for the city. “Baton Rouge was a targeted market for expansion by Stantec into the Gulf Coast region, and its acquisition of ABMB will bring even more transportation expertise, as well as access to a broad array of additional design services, to our city and parish,” Holden says. ABMB was founded in 1985. The company’s managing principal, Michael Bruce, says the deal will allow ABMB to expand its services to existing clients and build a larger portfolio of services.
