Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell has joined officials from 35 other states looking into suspected fraud in state pension funds. Caldwell joined the group, being led by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who set up a multi-state task force to allow states to share information about pension fund abuse. One of the firms Cuomo has been looking at is Aldus Equity Partners, whose founder Saul Meyer faces criminal and civil charges in New York for reportedly paying to get access to invest public retirement funds. The Louisiana State Employees Retirement System has about $125 million invested with Aldus, but the group decided to stop making new investments with the firm.
