A two-day festival full of music, food and entertainment has been scheduled for late October in Port Allen, and the proceeds from the event will go toward flood relief efforts in the Baton Rouge area.
The Cajun Nation Fest Flood Relief Benefit is set for Oct. 29-30 at the Louis Mouch Jr. Multi-Purpose Facility at 152 Turner Road in Port Allen. In partnership with the Iberville Good Works Foundation, all proceeds from the event will go to the Baton Rouge Area Foundation Flood Relief Fund.
“Cajun Nation Fest is a two-day, family-friendly music festival with a Cajun twist organized to support relief efforts from the devastating flood that hit the heart of Louisiana in August,” reads a news release announcing the event. “The goal of this event is to bring the community together to help this beautiful state we call home heal and rebuild.”
A handful of musical acts have already signed up for the event, including CJ Solar, Charley Rivers, Travis Matte, Foret Tradition and Josh Johnson, among many others. A full lineup is expected to be announced later. The musical performances will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 29 and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 30.
The news release says a variety of food and drink vendors will be on hand, though details about those vendors have not been released.
Other scheduled events include a jambalaya cook-off, an antique car show and a silent auction. In addition, there will be a host of children’s activities, including a petting zoo, pony rides and bounce houses.
