Cajun named national Contractor of the Year

One of the country’s 50 largest trade associations—representing more than 22,000 commercial contractors and construction-related firms nationwide—has named Baton Rouge-based Cajun Industries the top contractor in America for 2012. In announcing Cajun Industries as the 2012 Contractor of the Year this morning, Associated Builders and Contractors says the firm “attains a level of achievement that raises the bar for all of us.” In a prepared statement, ABC national Chairman Greg Hoberock adds: “Their commitment to safety and excellence on all levels help to advance our organization, the construction and the principles of free enterprise.” With 99.9% growth in revenue between 2010 and 2011, to $497 million, Cajun Industries jumped five spots to No. 6 on Business Report‘s listing of the Top 100 private companies in the Capital Region for 2012. The company, which was founded in 1973 by Lane Grigsby, includes five subsidiary companies specializing in design and construction, deep foundations, maritime and equipment services, among other areas of expertise. The company is licensed or permitted for construction in 24 states. It has an estimated 1,500 employees, with 1,300 of them working in the Capital Region.
