The Council for A Better Louisiana backs giving the boards of higher education institutions the power to increase tuition and fees, and it supports changing the corporate income tax in Louisiana.

Those are two of the six constitutional amendments voters will decide on Election Day, Nov. 8. To help voters understand the proposed changes to the state constitution, CABL has released a guide in which it explains the amendments and offers it recommendations on how to vote.

Along with amendments concerning higher education and the corporate income tax, others would establish hiring qualifications for registrars of voters; establish a property tax exemption for the surviving spouses of military and law enforcement officers; create a revenue stabilization fund; and allow lawmakers limited access to constitutionally dedicated funds.

CABL supports four amendments on the ballot and takes no position on two others: those concerning the property tax exemption and access to constitutionally dedicated funds. See the full guide.
