NEW ORLEANS [AP] — A New Orleans businessman has pleaded guilty to charges he engaged in a scheme to fraudulently obtain several automobiles from a BMW dealership in Baton Rouge and a Florida car salesman.
Federal prosecutors say 53-year-old Steven Hansen tried to use falsified financial documents and another person’s Social Security number to secure credit approval for cars he wanted to lease.
FBI agents arrested Hansen in January. On Tuesday, Hansen pleaded guilty to four counts of wire fraud and one count of misusing a Social Security number.
His sentencing is set for Sept. 9.
