Tuesday — The Downtown Development District Commission will hold its monthly meeting in the Hilton Capitol Center’s Heidelberg Room, 201 Lafayette St., at 8:00 a.m. At the meeting, the commission will consider drafting a panhandling ordinance for downtown, among various other agenda items, and give a year-end overview of downtown projects and events.

Wednesday — Charlie D’Agostino will be the keynote speaker at the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge’s monthly meeting at Boudreaux’s, 2647 Government St., beginning at noon. D’Agostino is executive director of the Louisiana Business & Technology Center at LSU—which he founded in 1988—and has been actively involved in entrepreneurship, economic development and small-business issues for the last 23 years. Under D’Agostino’s direction, the LBTC was selected as the 2005 National Business Incubator of the Year and the 2009 Most Innovative Incubator Program. Thursday — Baton Rouge Social Media Association will hold a membership meeting at the Louisiana Technology Park, 7117 Florida Blvd., at noon. The event is free for members, and lunch will be provided. Cost is $5 for nonmembers. More information on the association and membership is available here.

Thursday — The New Orleans American Marketing Association’s annual Louisiana Brand Panel Discussion will be led by writer, editor and food blogger Lorin Gaudin. Other panelists include Larry Avery, Big Easy Foods CEO and managing partner; Stanton Brown, vice president of marketing at Community Coffee; TurboSquid CEO and co-founder Matt Wisdom; and Lena DerOhannessian, director of Global Marketing at Southern Comfort. The event will take place at the Audubon Tea Room, 6500 Magazine St. in New Orleans, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Registration deadline is Tuesday.
