Tuesday — The 14th Annual LSU Forum on Health Care Effectiveness will be held starting at 9 a.m. in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The day-long event will feature Bruce Greenstein, secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals; Christine Bechtel, vice president, National Partnership for Women and Families; and Dr. Stuart Levine, corporate CMO, HealthCare Partners. Tuesday — The LSU AgCenter will host an interactive timber tax workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Efferson Hall on the LSU campus. The workshop is designed to educate forest landowners, foresters, tax preparers and others on the many special issues of timber taxes. Registration for the event is $40. Friday — Stephen Moret, LED secretary, will kick off the LSU Flores MBA Program’s Distinguished Speaker Series for the spring, with a speech at 9:30 a.m. in the Energy, Coast & Environment Building. Moret earned a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from LSU and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Saturday — Barristers Bowl VII, a football game between LSU Law students to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Olympia Stadium. Admission is free, but there will be a silent auction and donations are accepted. To make a donation, e-mail LSULAWFOOTBALLCLUB@gmail.com.

Feb. 3 — The LSU AgCenter will sponsor a half day conference on rural poverty from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Woods Auditorium in the Energy, Coast and Environment Building. Feb. 3 — Volunteers In Public Schools will host an open house at 1 p.m. at Capitol Elementary. The event will spotlight how three congregations from diverse backgrounds have united to support Capitol Elementary.
Feb. 4 — Barbara Reich Freiberg, East Baton Rouge Parish School Board president, will be the guest speaker at the Baton Rouge Black Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon.
