Tuesday: The Chamber of Commerce of East Baton Rouge Parish is holding a candidates forum featuring candidates from several local races. Candidates for Senate District 16, House District 68 and City Court Judge are expected to attend. A reception starts at 11:30 a.m. and the forum begins at noon at Cafe Americain, 7521 Jefferson Highway. Cost for lunch is $17. The event is open to the public.
Wednesday: Assurance Financial, in partnership with MGIC, will host an upcoming training for real estate agents concerning the “Know Before You Owe” mortgage disclosure rule. The rule, also called TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure, or TRID, requires new mandatory disclosures, updated waiting periods, and a host of complex compliance requirements. TRID is scheduled to go into effect Oct. 3. These changes, while meant to streamline and clarify the closing process for consumers, will require that lenders and real estate professionals adjust their processes as well. The training is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in the Chatsworth Meeting Room at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel, 777 L’Auberge Ave. Following the hour-long training, Assurance Financial and MGIC will host a networking social in the Edge Bar from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Seating is limited.
