Tuesday: Leaders With Vision hosts a candidate forum for candidates running for the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education at Baton Rouge Community College, 201 Community College Drive, in the Louisiana Building board room. Candidates from District 6 and 8 will participate. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the forum set to begin at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Tuesday: The Istrouma Area Council, Boy Scouts of America presents the Business and Industry Leaders Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the L’Auberge Casino & Hotel, 777 L’Auberge Ave. Keynote speaker will be Maj. Dan Rooney of the United States Air Force, who served three tours in Iraq. Individual tickets are $250. Tables of 10 are also available. Get complete details and tickets. 

Wednesday: The Capital Area March of Dimes hosts its “Signature Chefs Auction” fundraiser, with hopes of raising $200,000 to support local families. The event is being held at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel, 777 L’Auberge Ave., from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Get complete details.

Thursday: Volunteers in Public Schools hosts an educational forum focused on how youth-orientated communities and entities can strengthen the pipeline from high school to higher education. Among the speakers are LSU President F. King Alexander, Southern University President Ray Belton and Baton Rouge Community College Interim Chancellor Dennis Michaelis. Tickets are $20. Friday: The Louisiana Art & Science Museum hosts Light Fantastic, its 30th annual fundraising gala, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the museum, 100 S. River Road. Tickets are $100 for museum members and $150 for guests. Get complete details and tickets.

Oct. 12: L’Auberge Casino & Hotel hosts a hiring event at the casino, 777 L’Auberge Ave., to fill positions for food and beverage, gaming, security, finance, facility and hotel operations. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can apply for the open positions in advance of the event online.
