Tonight — The Louisiana Association of Educators hosts an education forum at 5:30 p.m. at the McKinley Alumni Center, 1520 Thomas Delpit Dr. A panel of local education stakeholders—including teachers, parents, school administrators, community leaders and members of the Legislature—will discuss some of the most pressing issues currently impacting public schools. The event is free.
Friday — Louisiana International Film Festival Executive Director Chesley Heymsfield will be the featured speaker at Creative Louisiana, a monthly meeting for creative types. The meeting will take place from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Baton Rouge Gallery, 1442 City Park Ave. There is no charge.
March 19 — The 2013 Business Awards & Hall of Fame Banquet, presented by Business Report and Junior Achievement, will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Crowne Plaza, 4728 Constitution Ave. Tickets are $80 each and $750 for a table of 10. This year’s winners are:
• Hall of Fame Laureate: Jim Bernhard, founder, chairman and CEO of The Shaw Group
• Businessperson of the Year: Teri Fontenot, president and CEO of Woman’s Hospital
• Young Businesspersons of the Year: Brandon Landry and Jack Warner, owners of Last in Concepts Inc., which includes Walk-On’s, Roux House, Schlittz & Giggles, and Happy’s
• Company of the Year (100 or more employees): Sparkhound
• Company of the Year (under 100 employees): GoTech Inc.
