Tuesday, Wednesday — LSU Continuing Education, in collaboration with kiisa corporation, will host a grant-writing workshop from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. The two-day workshop, Successful Grant Writing, will teach participants the essentials of researching, writing, obtaining and maintaining grants. Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of how to write grant proposals from start to finish and how to identify relevant grant opportunities. A Q&A session relative to grants with instructors will be included, as will coverage of federal, state, local, nongovernmental and private sector grants. Thursday — Southern University’s College of Education will host its fall 2011 Teacher Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Seymour Gym on the university’s campus. All current and prospective teachers and school counselors are invited to attend. More than 30 school districts in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi and other states will be represented and interviewing interested candidates in all certification areas. Admission is free. Thursday — Family Service of Greater Baton Rouge will host an “All Red Affair” at White Oak Plantation from 6-9 p.m. to recognize and raise HIV awareness. Food by Chef John Folse and an auction are planned. Tickets are $50. More information and tickets are available here or by calling 330-6327.
