Tuesday: A number of free workshops on franchising and starting a business, as well as financing and lending, will be offered at the Dutchtown library, 13278 La. 73, in Geismar from 5 to 9 p.m.  Get complete details and register to attend.

Tuesday: The Baton Rouge Events Association launches its fall Lunch & Learn series with a presentation by David Day of The Day Group, who will be speaking on “Small Business, Big Marketing: How the Big Brands Do It.” The event will be held at Juban’s restaurant, 3739 Perkins Road, with registration from 11 to 11:30 a.m., and luncheon and presentation to follow through 12:30 p.m. There is no charge for BREA members; $35 for guests. Tuesday and Thursday: H&R Block hosts a pair of career fairs to discuss with interested candidates some 40 open positions at its Baton Rouge and Hammond offices. Available positions include receptionists, tax professionals and office managers. The Aug. 18 fair takes place from 9 a.m. to noon at 4523 Plank Road. The Aug. 20 fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1991 Wooddale Blvd.

Wednesday: Livingston Parish Assessor Jeff Taylor and Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks will be guest speakers at the Livingston Parish Board of Realtors general membership meeting, which takes place at the Forrest Grove Plantation, 8743 Stephenson Drive, in Denham Springs. Registration and check in begins at 11:30 a.m., with the meeting to begin at noon and adjourn at 1 p.m. Early registration is $20. Cost at the door is $25. Register to attend.

Wednesday: As part of Small Business Power Day in Ascension Parish, a number of free workshops, a networking luncheon and the Ascension Chamber of Commerce’s Business Expo 2015 will take place at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, 9039 S. St. Landry Ave. in Gonzales, beginning at 2 p.m.  Get complete details and register to attend.

Thursday: Dan Borné, president of the Louisiana Chemical Association, will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of Sales and Marketing Executives of Baton Rouge. The luncheon will take place at Juban’s restaurant, 3739 Perkins Road, beginning with registration and networking from 11 to 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and presentation until 1 p.m. There is no charge for SME members; $35 for guests. Thursday: As part of Small Business Day in Donaldsonville, free workshops on financing and lending, small business startup, and small business resources will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lemann Memorial Donaldsonville Community Center, 1100 Clay St., in Donaldsonville.  Get complete details and register to attend.
