Tuesday — Louisiana shale gas opportunities will be the main topic of Energy Summit 2011, presented by the LSU Center for Energy Studies from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dalton J. Woods Auditorium in the Energy, Coast & Environment Building at LSU. The full-day conference features speakers representing companies active in developing the state’s unconventional oil and gas resources, as well as state government and regulatory agency representatives. Pre-registration fee is $70 for students, $110 for those in government and education, and $135 for all others. Pre-registration, which ends Oct. 14, and a full schedule of events are available here. On-site registration is $85 for students, $135 for those in government and education, and $160 for all others. The registration fee covers breakfast, a buffet lunch and reception. Attorneys can earn continuing legal education credits, and engineering professionals can earn professional development hours. Thursday: Sales and Marketing Executives of Greater Baton Rouge and the Baton Rouge Lodging Association are hosting Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne and his challenger, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, at a luncheon at the Marriott Hotel, 5500 Hilton Ave. A networking opportunity, starting at 11 a.m., will lead into the luncheon, slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. and last until 1:00 p.m. The event is free for Sales and Marketing Executive members, $25 for Baton Rouge Lodging Association members, $35 for guests and $325 for a table of ten.
