July 28: The 2014-15 Capital Area United Way Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Baton Rouge River Center, 275 S. River Road. The event will celebrate the success of the 2014 Workforce Campaign and will see the election of incoming board members and officers and the presentation of five awards. July 29: BRAC hosts the second annual LIVEcapitalized Conversation Night, which offers engaging small group conversations with area professionals, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Beausoleil, 7731 Jefferson Highway. The topic of the evening will be “Energy and Priorities: Do yours align?” Get complete details and register to attend. 

July 30-31: The LSU Department of Accounting’s 2015 Fraud and Forensic Conference will feature a host of speakers—including Louisiana Legislative Auditor Daryl Purpera and Catherine Maraist, civil chief in the U.S. Attorney’s Office—and cover a variety of topics, such as the HealthSouth scandal, fraud in the health care marketplace and how to identify and catch fraud. The conference will be held at Crowne Plaza, 4728 Constitution Ave. Conference fees are $330 for both days (16 CPE hours) or $165 for one day (eight CPE hours). Lunch is included.
