Robert Burgess, former president/COO of EATEL and Gulf Coast Wireless, says he wants to take over as the next chancellor of the Baton Rouge Community College. “Nearly all of my civic involvement has been in organizations that support education (K-12 and higher ed) and economic development,” Burgess says in a statement. “I believe it is the right time for someone who has a business background, economic development experience and that is tempered with college classroom experience to lead the college.” BRCC is searching for a permanent replacement for former Chancellor Myrtle Dorsey, who left BRCC this summer to become the new chancellor of St. Louis Community College. James Horton has been interim chancellor since July 5.
