James F. Horton Jr. has been appointed interim chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College. Horton, who takes over July 5, has taught and been an administrator in higher education since 1969. Most recently, he was president of Yavapai College in Prescott, Ariz., a community college with about 9,000 students. Horton replaces Myrtle Dorsey, who left earlier this month to become chancellor of St. Louis Community College. The Louisiana Community and Technical College System is conducting a search for Dorsey’s replacement. Horton will not be considered as a permanent candidate for the BRCC chancellor post.
