Tillage Construction is hoping its work on a new parking garage at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport will help the Baton Rouge-based firm expand its reach in the airline industry and open doors to further growth.
The firm, which claims to be among the fastest growing minority-owned construction companies in the country, broke ground on early this year on the $92 million project, in a joint venture with Texas-based McCarthy Building Companies Inc. The project includes removal of existing roadways at the airport, as well as construction of new bridges and utilities, to make way for a new five-level parking garage with 3,920 spaces. Construction is expected to be completed by March 2017.

Along with its Baton Rouge headquarters, Tillage has offices in New Orleans and Dallas. Mike McWay, Texas region president for McCarthy Building Companies, says: “We are proud to work alongside our protégé, Tillage Construction, on a project that will help Tillage gain valuable, firsthand experience with at-risk project delivery.”
In September, Tillage announced it was teaming up with Baton Rouge-based CSRS to manage some $200 million in construction projects for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, a deal that is worth $6.9 million over five years. The local firms came together earlier this year to buy out Garrard Group—an Atlanta, Georgia-based firm that had been CSRS’s partner in the management of school system facilities projects since 1999.
