Boutin’s restaurant, the Bluebonnet Boulevard eatery that features Cajun cuisine and live Cajun music, has filed a Chapter 11 voluntary reorganization petition in federal bankruptcy court, but the restaurant’s owner says it will not close.
According to documents filed Nov. 12 in the U.S. Middle District Boutin’s owes between $500,000 and $1 million to creditors, the largest of which are Farmers Merchants Bank and Trust, Doerle Food Service and American Express. The restaurant lists between $100,000 and $500,000 in assets.
Boutin’s owner Lynn Boutin says the restaurant will remain open throughout the reorganization process. He and his attorney decline any further comment at this time.
Boutin’s has been in operation since 2001, when it opened in the space at 8832 Bluebonnet Blvd. that was previously occupied by Mulate’s. In early 2012, the restaurant expanded to a second location in Howell Place in north Baton Rouge. That location has since closed, however. —Stephanie Riegel
