Body Sculpt Barre Studio, founded in Prairieville in 2013, will open a pop-up studio in Perkins Rowe next month.

The fitness studio, which combines barre basics with cardio, Pilates, strength, yoga and other exercises, will occupy a space next to women’s clothing retailer Francesca’s. According to a statement from company founder Shelly Saurage, the Perkins Rowe studio will be its first in Baton Rouge.

“The Capital City has been the highest-requested destination by our dedicated community for years,” Saurage says.

Body Sculpt Barre Studio has aimed to differentiate itself from other fitness studios in the region with its spins on traditional barre classes. Some of those spins include Barre Beats (barre combined with cardio), Barre Bells (barre combined with kettlebell training) and Barre Brawls (barre combined with boxing/kickboxing).

The company currently operates four other locations in Brusly, Central, Prairieville and Zachary. While the fitness studio’s new location will be a pop-up—meaning that it will only occupy its space in Perkins Rowe temporarily—Saurage is hopeful that it will serve as a stepping stone toward establishing a permanent location in Baton Rouge.
