HMO Louisiana Inc., a subsidiary of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, will begin selling Medicare Part C plans, also known as Medicare Advantage, this fall.
Blue Cross announced its entrance into the market today, saying it has signed a contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and will sell the plans in 14 parishes in the Baton Rouge, New Orleans, North Shore and Acadiana regions.
“We are excited about making our entrance into the Medicare Advantage market this fall,” says Mike Reitz, Blue Cross president and CEO, in a prepared statement. “And I believe that consumers will be equally excited about the options we will have for them.”
HMO Louisiana will sell the plans, dubbed Blue Advantage, in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Lafayette, Livingston, Orleans, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Tammany, Washington and West Baton Rouge parishes. The annual enrollment period for Medicare Advantage is Oct. 15 through Dec. 7.
