Blue Bayou/Dixie Landin’ is looking to renew a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers to complete an expansion for a campground and parking lot.
The amusement and water park was previously issued a permit in 2010, which was extended in 2015, for the work.
Liz Haynes Harrison, director of marketing and entertainment for the parks, says they’re just renewing the permit and “moving dirt.”
“We’re just doing excavation work at this point,” says Harrison.
Harrison couldn’t estimate how long the work would take, next steps or how much it will cost.
The project, located along Interstate 10 and Highland Road, would impact 2.81 acres of wetlands and 2.85 acres of water, according to the public notice issued Monday. Approximately 35,963 cubic yards of dirt would be excavated.
