Musicians and artists will take over the city’s riverfront this weekend as the second annual Ebb & Flow Festival returns to Baton Rouge, Best of 225 This Week reports.

The free, family-oriented festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. And this year, Ebb & Flow—which kicks off the local spring festival season—has an international twist, highlighting the arts and culture of both Baton Rouge and Brazil.

“The festival celebrates innovation, art and community of other cultures, all the while raising awareness of the culture, advancements and opportunities already here in Baton Rouge,” Best of 225 This Week says. This year’s theme is “Baton Rouge to Brazil: Where the Mississippi Meets the Amazon.”

There will be dancing, live music, dramatic performances and children’s programming, along with culinary, visual arts and film presentations. Grammy-nominated artist and Prince protégé

“The festival’s Brazilian connections include two-time Latin Grammy winner Vanessa da Mata and the New Orleans samba school Casa Samba,” says a 225 magazine story on the festival. “Billed as a revamped version of the Arts Council’s longstanding spring FestForAll, Ebb & Flow aims to usher in the start of festival season in Louisiana with a focus on our river city as a hub for creativity and innovation.”
