Baton Rouge-based private equity firm Bernhard Capital Partners announced this morning it has raised more than $750 million in its debut fund, which was launched two years ago.
Capital commitments to the BCP Energy Services Fund LP come from public and corporate pension funds, university endowments, family offices, strategic corporate investors, industry executives, as well as an investment by BCP professionals, the firm says in a press release.
“Our strategy is to invest in North American service companies across the midstream, downstream and power verticals, and we are well-positioned to capitalize on the many oil and gas investment opportunities we see on the horizon due to the abundance of oil and gas in North America that must be refined, transported and stored,” says BCP partner Jim Bernhard in a prepared statement.
Bernhard launched BCP in 2013 when he left The Shaw Group after it was acquired by CB&I for just over $3 billion. Bernhard had founded The Shaw Group and served as chairman and CEO. He launched BCP with Jeff Jenkins, former COO of Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure, other former Shaw executives and a team of experienced private equity professionals.
BCP has already made 14 proprietary acquisitions through its four portfolio companies: ATC Associates, Bernhard LLC, Brown and Root, and Epic Piping.
The growth of BCP and its strategy going forward is featured as the cover package of the new issue of Business Report that hits newsstands this morning. The cover package will be available on BusinessReport.com on Wednesday morning.
