Lafayette-based ATC Group Services, an environmental consulting and industrial hygiene firm that is one of the four portfolio companies owned by Bernhard Capital Partners, has acquired yet another Austin, Texas-based specialty environmental services firm—its second this week.
The latest acquisition, Dexter Field Services, provides leak detection and repair, monitoring and other specialized technical environmental services to a wide range of industrial companies.
Earlier this week, ATC acquired Sage Environmental Consulting, also of Austin, which specializes in environmental engineering and technical consulting services.
Terms of the deals were not disclosed, but the two acquisitions combined will give ATC 1,700 employees across nearly 100 locations nationwide. It will also broaden the scope of environmental services the growing company is able to offer.
“The addition of Dexter, combined with our recent acquisition of Sage Environmental Consulting, will better position ATC to drive growth and deliver the excellent and increasingly broad portfolio of environmental services our customers have come to expect,” ATC Group CEO Bobby Toups says.
The acquisition is the latest in a string of several over the past year by the four portfolio companies under the rapidly expanding BCP umbrella. Those companies include: Bernhard LLC, Epic Piping, Brown and Root, and ATC Associates. All are run independently by independent management teams, many members of which worked under Jim Bernhard for years at The Shaw Group.
Bernhard retired from The Shaw Group in 2013, after it was acquired by CB&I. He founded BCP a few months later with several of his top executives from The Shaw Group, and has spent the past two years creating a network of companies under BCP that rival what The Shaw Group did in size and scope.
