The Baton Rouge Youth Coalition, which provides financial, educational and emotional support to promising students in East Baton Rouge Parish schools, will be featured on a national program Saturday that highlights outstanding nonprofit organizations.
American Graduate Day 2015 is a seven-hour national broadcast airing on LPB that will celebrate the exceptional work of individuals and groups across the country who are helping local youth stay on track to college and success.
LPB selected BRYC as one of 45 groups nationally to participate in the program, which will also feature Shaquille O’Neal, Colin Powell, Jane Pauley, Jason Derulo, Allison Williams and Billy Bob Thornton.
“We’re honored to be recognized alongside such dedicated and accomplished groups,” says BRYC Executive Director Lucas Spielfogel, who was a member of Business Report’s 2013 class of Forty Under 40.
The program will air on LPB from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The segment featuring BRYC is scheduled to air at 11 a.m. LPB news anchor Shauna Sanford will interview a BRYC fellow and graduate about how the organization helped him increase his ACT score and secure a full scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Spielfogel also will join the discussion.
