Baton Rouge-based technology services firm Gage has reached an agreement to acquire Mid State Telephone of Pearl, Mississippi.
In a prepared release issued this morning, Gage officials say the acquisition is a “natural progression” for the company, which over the past 35 years has grown from a small telephone provider (then named Gage Telephone) to a full information technology firm with business clients across the Gulf South. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Gage is a good company, but more importantly, they are just good people,” Mid State Telephone founder Ritchie Jones says in a prepared statement. “I wouldn’t have considered anything less for my customers.”
Jones will join the Gage team as a consultant following the acquisition to assist the company as it works to consolidate efforts in Mississippi. Gage says it plans to offer technology upgrades and increased service options to customers in the state.
Both Gage and Mid State are both authorized Toshiba dealers, notes Gage Vice President Greg Wood Jr., making the acquisition “a perfect fit.” Gage provides voice, data, video and cabling services to businesses of all sizes. Mid State Telephone has been in business since 1992.
“Over the years, Gage and Mid State Telephone have teamed up on large projects and built an excellent working relationship, which lends strength to this acquisition,” reads a prepared statement issued by Gage.
