Charlie Davis, co-founder and chief strategic officer for MasteryPrep, a Baton Rouge-based startup that claims to be among the fastest-growing education technology companies in the nation, is traveling to New York on Wednesday to try to woo venture capitalists.
At an event produced by New Orleans-based startup accelerator Launch Pad, Davis will try to drum up funds from several well-known investors, including Steve Schlafman of RRE, Jeffrey Silverman of Laconia Ventures, Robb Vorrhoff of General Atlantic, Taylor Davidson of Venture for America and Joe Medved of Softbank Capital.
MasteryPrep, which provides college readiness and test preparation programs, currently counts more than 500 schools in over a dozen states among its clients. The company last week was announced as the first company to receive assistance from The Catalyst Fund, which also is based in Baton Rouge and will help the firm try to raise $500,000 from investors to expand.
