Baton Rouge’s three riverboat casinos won big from gamblers in July, raking in a combined total of slightly more than $24.9 million, marking a 9.3% jump from the collective take in June and a 3.3% increase from July a year ago.
The three casinos—L’Auberge Casino & Hotel, Hollywood Casino and Belle of Baton Rouge—won $24,930,383 in July, up by more than $2.13 million from the $22,799,984 they collected in June, according to figures from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. The gain comes after the casinos posted a 10.1% drop in winnings between May and June.
L’Auberge led the way with $13.7 million in winnings, an 11.4% jump from its total in June and a 7.7% increase from July 2014. Hollywood brought in nearly $5.77 million in July—a 6.5% increase over June winnings, but a 3.6% drop from July 2014. The Belle, meanwhile, pulled in $5.43 million last month, marking a 7.3% jump from June winnings and a 0.9% increase over its take during the month last year.
All four of Louisiana’s riverboat gaming markets posted collective increases in winnings last month. In Shreveport and Bossier City, the six casinos won approximately $63.8 million, an increase of 9.5%. Boosted by the addition of the Golden Nugget—which opened in December of last year as the market’s third riverboat casino—the Lake Charles market saw its winnings rise by 41.1% last month to roughly $66.8 million. And in New Orleans, where three riverboat casinos operate, the collective take rose 12% to about $24.5 million.
