Baton Rouge’s three riverboat casinos collectively raked in 9.1% less revenue in August than they did during last August, marking the 13th-straight month in which year-over-year collections were down.
L’Auberge Baton Rouge, Hollywood Casino and the Belle of Baton Rouge brought in roughly $20.2 million last month, down from about $22.2 million in August 2017, according to the latest report from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
The Belle of Baton Rouge posted the largest decline by percentage, with winnings falling 26.6% to $3.1 million. The casino won about $4 million last August.
Hollywood, meanwhile, brought in about $4.4 million in August, a 16% decrease from $5.2 million. Revenue at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel was highest, at a little more than $12.6 million, a 0.4% drop from just over $12.7 million.
While some individual casinos at Louisiana’s three other riverboat markets posted revenue declines, the boats in each market collectively posted year-over-year revenue increases in August. New Orleans saw a 8.6% increase; Lake Charles, 16.5%; and Shreveport/Bossier City, 7.4%.
A bright spot in the report for the Baton Rouge market: collective revenue in August was 1.5% higher than July. Month-over-month revenue was down in Shreveport/Bossier City (-6%) and Lake Charles (-7.2%), while New Orleans posted a 0.7% increase.
