A diverse group of Baton Rouge musicians—many of them directly affected by last August’s historic flood—have collaborated over the past year to create a six-track album that will be released later this month, with proceeds benefitting ongoing relief efforts.
The album was born out of gathering of local musicians at the Dyson House Listening Room that took place just days after the flood. After recording a single titled “Fight the Flood” at the Legendary Noise Floor studio in Mid City, ideas for more songs emerged and the original plan to release a single was shelved.
On Saturday, Aug. 12, the full “Fight the Flood” album will be available for download. The title track is available for download now for $1.99, with all proceeds going to a Capital Area United Way fund dedicated to flood relief.
Bands and artists who recorded songs for the album include The Legendary Noise Floor Players, Minos the Saint & Donney Rose, Burrism Ryan Harris, Luke and Emily Ash, and Clay Parker and Jodi James, among others. It was recorded, mixed and mastered by Legendary Noise Floor owner John Tulley, and executive produced by creative consultant Jeff Roedel, with additional production by musician Matthew Schwartz.
