New hotels are all the rage in downtown Baton Rouge, with new projects emerging seemingly every other month. The Downtown Development District says 897 hotel rooms have been built since 2001, when downtown had no hotel units whatsoever. Another 148 are under construction and 136 more are planned, with major projects like the Courtyard Marriott and Watermark Baton Rouge
